Art is often viewed as a luxury to access or a hobby to pursue. Black Artists living in the South experience some of the most extreme conditions and still find the courage to create. This project creates intentional space for them to lead the conversations on how we experience. This project aims to make some radical dreams real and illustrate the significance of, and reliance on, art as a consistent catalyst for social change.
So we’re writing this moment through the Arts.

Every generation has seen the underbelly of society. We’ve watched people struggle, suffer, and even die under the circumstances that surround them. So how do we continue to survive?
It’s in the recipes that feed us. The music that soothes us. Every color and emotion that we feel. In the stories that we tell and the futures that we paint. It’s the Art.
As time moves and history shifts, the Art of the times has always responded. But I think it’s safe to say, we’ve reached an all time low again. So where is the Zeitgeist?
This film serves as a historical archive of the norms of all that exist here and what is being said from the perspective of the Artists who not only survive the South, but dare to create among the madness.

Our 2025 summer series produced four Art Shows that gathered over 300 Black people to think about how we experience Money, Power, Relationships, and Pleasure in the South.
Our team has built projects and plans ranging from exclusive nightlife events to large professional conferences. With over 50 years of combined experience making waves across industries, we use these gifts to create one of kind, immersive Art Shows that touch all of our emotional and communal senses. These curations are made to offer Black people in the South access to unique Art spaces while experimenting with different narrative, safety, and reparations models.

Dominique Symone is a unique Southern blend of radical artist, performer, and organizer. Texas bred with a Georgia bed, Dominique Symone has been challenging people to confront societal norms for the last 10 years. She develops bold campaigns, facilitates powerful community conversations, and curates high impact events that harness her hope for the future and love for people.
Her current project, Somethin’ Different is an invitation and exploration into how we contend with concepts of Money, Power, Pleasure, and Relationships through the lens of art in the Black American South.
Dominique Symone moves within the core belief that we’re all as connected (or disconnected) as we choose and engaging revolution is key to being accountable to each other, our future, and ourselves.

We’re creating a network of creative and professional support for the visual, performance, and culinary artists across the South.

We partner with local communities to provide raw art materials, professional digital services, and cash money to Black Artists living in the South. We believe in the power of giving tangible resources to help elevate art, increase reach and impact, gain placement in future shows and galleries, and sustain the energy needed for creation.
